Budget Friendly DIY Wedding Favors

September 30, 2009

These days many brides are finding it difficult to stike the right balance between the wedding of their dreams and their monetary resources.  But when it comes to wedding favors, these brides won’t have to compromise at all.  With a little imagination and elbow grease, brides can create wedding favors that will exhibit their unique personality and style while also saving their resources for other parts of the wedding.  Here are some wedding favor ideas:

Idea #1: Seeds Encased in Glassine Envelopes
These eco friendly wedding favors are inexpensive to make and an earth-friendly option that underscores the bridal couple’s concern for the environment.

Materials: Glassine Envelopes, Flower/Plant Seeds, Personalized Wedding Stickers

Instructions: Fill each glassine envelope with a handful of seeds bought at your local supermarket. Seal the envelope with a decorative label printed with your names and wedding date. Place an envelope at each place setting or together in a wicker or wooden basket or tray - a perfect eco-friendly wedding favor for green weddings.

Idea #2:  Car Air Freshener Wedding Favors
Your wedding guests will be in for a sweet-smelling surprise when they get into their cars after the reception. Wish your guests a safe journey home by having the valet hang your aromatic wedding favor from the car’s rearview mirror!

Materials: Sheer Favor Drawstring Pouches, Bridal Hang Tag, Potpourri, Tape

Instructions: Fill a pouch with your favorite potpourri. Pull the drawstrings tight to secure the aromatic contents. Around the neck of the pouch bind a personalized Bridal Hang Tag that conveys your appreciation of the guests’ attendance at your wedding and also wishes them well on their drive home.  Request the valet driver to attach the air freshner to the back of the rearview mirror with a piece of adhesive tape.  What a creative and practical wedding favor idea!

Idea #3: A Perfect Pear Wedding Favor
Juicy pears make delicious wedding favors! Either displayed in the center of a guest’s table setting or as a batch in a large crate at a central table, pears are a festive nod to the holiday season!

Materials:  Personalized Ribbons, Anjou Pears, Clear food wrap

Instructions: Wrap each pear with clear cellophane. Alternatively, use colored cellophane to reflect a particular season or holiday. Bind each package with a personalized satin ribbon displaying your names and date of your wedding.  Chocolate-brown is a good color ribbon to use because it will give a beautiful contrast against the green-colored pear.
